Civics education HB 1384, Civics Education, passed unanimously out of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development earlier this week. If passed, this bill will require Indiana middle schools to provide one semester of civics education. Supporters for this bill say that the earlier students learn about civics, the more likely they will be to later engage politically at a local level. One of our top goals at MCCOY is to get more young people engaged in advocacy efforts, so we are excited for the support it is getting at the State House! |
