Well, Friend, that's a wrap!

The Indiana legislature has adjourned for the 2021 legislative session. They will, however, reconvene this fall for a special session to cover redistricting.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to follow along with me this year as we tracked and advocated for important legislative bills that affected children, families, and those who serve them.

Our work never ends, so stay tuned for ways to engage with your representatives at a local, state, and national level as we continue moving through 2021.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Indiana's State Budget

Lawmakers passed the State Budget with strong support from both parties. It cleared the House 96-2 and the Senate 46-3. The Republican-written budget plan calls for spending $37 billion over the next two years—which includes an overall school funding increase of about 4.5% each of the next two years. Additionally $250 million is included for broadband internet expansion grants.

Waiting for Governor Holcomb's signature...

After bills pass both the House and the Senate, they are sent to Governor Holcomb. He can choose to sign the bill into law, veto the bill, or let the bill pass without his signature. Here are some of the bills we are following currently waiting for his signature:

Contact Governor Holcomb today!  Let him know that you want him to sign these bills into law because they are good for Hoosier children and families!

2021 Legislative Wrap-up Power Hour

The 2021 Indiana legislative session has adjourned! Join me to learn about what bills crossed the legislative finish line at the State House and what they will mean for children and families once they become law. I will also talk about what bills did not pass and what we can do together to make sure good legislation for children and families will be a top priority for legislators as we prepare for 2022.
