Transparency and Public Participation at the State House A global pandemic makes it very difficult for advocates to safely participate in the legislative process. This is why MCCOY signed on to a letter to Leadership in the Indiana General Assembly that requests expanded accessibility for public participation at the State House as well as transparency on when bills will be heard and amendments are filed. Included in the letter are requests for: - House and Senate committees to accept written, prerecorded, live video, and in-person testimony on legislative proposals
- Proposed amendments should be filed and available to the public at least one full day, rather than just two hours, before they are eligible for a vote
- Committee hearings should be scheduled 72 hours, instead of 24 hours, in advance.
