Introduction to Trauma uses the social ecological model to both frame and explore how humans hold, carry, and process trauma. Participants will be given an opportunity to practice mapping related risks and buffers, as well as learn about the potential impacts on our brains, bodies, and behavior. Participants will also be challenged and invited to consider how their own positionality has structured both exposure to trauma and access to healing.
So how does this relate to you as a youth-partnering professional? Children, adolescents, and adults will perceive, interpret, and cope with traumatic experiences differently. And we bring our full human selves into this dynamic and messy work.
